Why a cooperative

A cooperative is one of the oldest ways to do business together. When people could not get what they needed on their own, they joined forces and shared the work, the risk and the rewards. Many of the companies that still carry that model today, such as Rabobank, started that way more than a century ago.

We chose the same model for cloud-native work. Technology changes every few years. What lasts is people who know each other, trust each other and work towards a shared purpose.

Owned by members, not shareholders
No outside investor waits for a return. Every member has one equal vote, and our profit goes to the professionals who do the work and back into the community.
Cooperation drives innovation
Members share what they learn instead of keeping it, build on open source and help run the communities where cloud-native technology is made. Sharing knowledge is how we stay ahead.

FikaWorks Coöperatie U.A. is owned and democratically governed by its members, one member one vote, with a board the members elect. There are no outside shareholders.

Members lead engagements and keep the quality bar. A vetted community of 150+ professionals adds depth and specific skills, working to the same methods and values.

Small on purpose

A thin shared back office handles contracts, invoicing and admin, so members focus on the work. Knowledge is shared openly: we swarm and learn from each other.
